In the Pearl of Great Price we learn more about the Enoch of the Bible, who “walked with God: and he was not, for God took him” (Genesis 5:24). He was the leader of a city so righteous that it … Continue reading

A Response to “Biblical” Criticism of Spiritual Witnesses Part 10
Go back to Part 1. 1 John 5 In TBC’s third volley, there is more wresting of the scriptures (it’s like they can’t help themselves). They write, “The Apostle John reaffirms these principles by stating, “If we receive the witness of … Continue reading

The Potter’s Clay
I was reading through some of my old mission notes the other day, and came across a fantastic little lesson. It all starts with this scripture from Jeremiah: “O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith … Continue reading

More Discussion About Spiritual Truth
I just mentioned in my last post that I’d had two recent discussions dealing with spiritual truth. The first discussion, and the one that peaked my curiosity in the first place, was with a non-Mormon who (among other things) berated … Continue reading

Coming to Know Spiritual Truth – “Come, Feel and See”
I’ve recently been engaging in discussions with two friends (you can find one of those discussions in my post “An Apple Not Quite Ripe”, and the other in my post “More Discussion About Spiritual Truth”) where the subject of knowing truth … Continue reading

Proving My Testimony
In 2 Nephi in the Book of Mormon, Nephi tells us how “my soul delighteth in proving unto my people the truth of the coming of Christ”.
The word “proving” caught my attention, especially after the conversation I had with my well-meaning evangelical friend. One main theme of her emails was an obsession with empirical evidence as a source of faith, and she derided my testimony as ludicrous because it is based on “feelings” (her words, mind you, not mine). An Apple Not Quite Ripe
I’ve mentioned a recent missionary moment. Unfortunately, it turned out to be less a sincere inquiry and more an effort to witness to a hapless Mormon blogger. I thought it might be an interesting read for anyone wanting to sift through the thread below. Continue reading
